Whole Class Teaching

In the hybrid material classroom, digital presentations are a teacher’s essential tool. The market shows that teachers are willing to pay for pre-filled presentations and edit them to fit their needs, as shown on Teachers-Pay-Teachers. Through the years, a few options have been produced.

The first version of this were static, horizontal, projectable pages. Though many classrooms had Smartboards in 2016, some were still using simple projectors. In order to be useful to the widest range of users, I tested the contrast levels of the design color system in a dark meeting room in the New York office.

The option started during the pandemic was editable, accessible Powerpoint presentations that could be used in whole-class projections or screen-sharing. The capabilities of Powerpoint were stretched to the max. Accessibility was paramount and interactivity was an opportunity to innovate and add interest.

Today, HMH uses Classcraft as the pre-filled, whole-class presentation option. I had the opportunity to work on creating user flows for new Structured Literacy lessons.
